Lawful Basis for processing data
Armour will process Personal Data fairly and lawfully in accordance with individuals’ GDPR rights. This means Personal Data will only be processed with the explicit consent of the Data Subject; however much of Armour’s processing of Personal Data relates to Contractual obligations.
Under the UK GDPR, the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:
- Your consent (you are able to remove your consent at any time, as described elsewhere in this policy);
- We have a contractual obligation (e.g. in supplying a service to you);
- We have a legal obligation (e.g. for financial or legal record-keeping);
- We have a vital interest (e.g. where our service is used for healthcare or similarly critical purposes);
- We need it to perform a public task (e.g when supporting government customers);
- We have a legitimate interest (this is the most common use, e.g. when contacting potential customers whom we believe will be interested in our products or publications; notifying existing customers of new capabilities or changes to our services).
Armour maintains a Data Register which lists the type of Personal Data processed by the company and the Lawful Basis for the processing, as approved by our Data Protection Officer. Our staff must ensure that any Personal Data they manage is recorded on the Data Register, remembering that Data Subjects have the right to have any data unlawfully processed erased.
Will the data be shared with any third parties?
We will not disclose personal information to a third party except when:
- required by law, including (without limitation) in order to comply with applicable local laws or judicial proceedings, court orders or any other legal processes;
- required to supply you with a service you have contracted with us (in which case your privacy will be protected through appropriate data protection compliance by the third party and for data transfer between us and the third party).
Other than as needed for the day-to-day operation of the company, Armour will not disclose Personal Data without the consent of the Data subject(s) concerned.
How long will the data be stored?
We will only store data for as long as it is needed, whether this is for technical or legal reasons. Technical reasons may include, for example, the period during which we provide a service to – or contract with – you, plus a suitable period thereafter when you may wish to continue or alter the service or request historical data concerning your use of our service.
For legal reasons, we may be required to use and retain information for legal and compliance purposes, such as the prevention, detection, or investigation of a crime, loss prevention or fraud. We may also use personal information to meet our internal and external audit requirements, information security purposes, and as we otherwise believe necessary:
- under applicable law;
- to respond to requests from courts, law enforcement agencies, regulatory agencies and other public and government authorities;
- to enforce a contract; or
- to protect our rights, privacy, safety or property or those of other persons.

SigNet Privacy Policy
SigNet utilizes state-of-the-art security and end-to-end encryption to provide private messaging and Internet calling services to users worldwide (“Services”). Your calls and messages are always encrypted, so they can never be shared or viewed by anyone but yourself and the intended recipients.
Information you provide
Account Information. Your organisation licence administrator will designate your username. You may optionally add other information to your account, such as a profile name and profile picture. This information is end-to-end encrypted.
Messages. Armour cannot decrypt or otherwise access the content of your messages or calls. SigNet queues end-to-end encrypted messages on its servers for delivery to devices that are temporarily offline (e.g. a phone whose battery has died). Your message history is stored on your own devices.
Additional technical information is stored on our servers, including randomly generated authentication tokens, keys, push tokens, and other material that is necessary to establish calls and transmit messages. SigNet limits this additional technical information to the minimum required to operate the Services.
Contacts. SigNet contacts are generated by your organisation service administrator and stored on the SigNet server. Contacts are distributed by a secure encrypted service to the SigNet app from the SigNet server. Information from the contacts on your device may be cryptographically hashed and transmitted to the server in order to determine which of your contacts are registered.
User Support. If you contact SigNet User Support, any personal data you may share with us is kept only for the purposes of researching the issue and contacting you about your case.
Managing your information. You can manage your personal information in SigNet’s application Settings. For example, you can update your profile information or choose to enable additional privacy features.
Information we may share
Third Parties. We do not work with third parties and we do not share any data
Updates
We will update this privacy policy as needed so that it is current, accurate, and as clear as possible. Your continued use of our Services confirms your acceptance of our updated Privacy Policy.
Terms
The SigNet by Armour application may only be activated by authorised users of an organisation that has signed an Enterprise Licence Agreement (ELA) with Armour Communications Limited. Information you provide
Account Information. Your organisation service administrator will designate your username and any associated account information, such as role and organisation data. This information is encrypted in-transit and at-rest.
Messages. Armour cannot decrypt or otherwise access the content of your messages or calls unless your organisation has licensed and enabled the Armour Audit service “Recall” and has authorised Armour to be an authorised Auditor for this service. Additional technical information is stored on our servers, including randomly generated authentication tokens, keys, push tokens, and other material that is necessary to establish calls and transmit messages. Armour Mobile limits this additional technical information to the minimum required to operate the Services.

A user may optionally allow the Armour Mobile app to access the contacts on their device to assist in recognising new contacts where their secure service identifier is already in the device contacts but this feature is disabled by default.
User Support. If you contact Armour Mobile User Support, any personal data you may share with us is kept only for the purposes of researching the issue and contacting you about your case.
Managing your information. You can manage some personal information in the Armour Mobile application Settings. For example, you can update some profile information or choose to enable additional privacy features.
